Recognition of prior learning
Already doing the work? Get the qualification.
If you’ve been working in civil, plant or construction, your experience can count towards a full qualification. You show evidence of what you already do, and a qualified assessor checks it.
- Apply online. Pick your qualification and tell us about your work. Five minutes, no payment.
- We check you’re eligible. Within 2 business days we confirm the qualification, the price and what evidence you’ll need.

Questions
Is this an excavator licence?
No. In Victoria you don’t need a licence to operate an excavator or skid steer. You get a nationally recognised statement of attainment for each unit you complete, which is what employers and site inductions ask for.
What’s a USI and do I need one?
A Unique Student Identifier is your national training record number. Every student needs one before we can issue a certificate. It’s free and takes five minutes at usi.gov.au.
How do I pay?
If you’re paying yourself, you pay by card on a secure Stripe page as soon as you book, and Stripe emails your receipt. If your employer is paying, we email them a Stripe invoice they can pay by card or bank transfer, and your seat is held for 3 days.
Can my employer pay?
Yes. Choose “My employer” in step 3 and we invoice the company directly. For four or more seats, call us about a group date.
Can I get RPL instead of doing the course?
If you already do this work, RPL may get you a full qualification without sitting through the training. Apply through the RPL option above. There’s no payment until we’ve checked you’re eligible and agreed the price.
